“Sento di avere una certa predisposizione per il nomadismo. Mi piacerebbe vivere come gli agili Mongoli in una yurta bianca, smontando ogni mattina tutta la baracca , spostandosi qua e là nella immensa pianura. O piuttosto come i Beduini che si rifugiano dai rigori notturni del deserto sotto enormi tende nere di pelle di capra. Certo lo vorrei, ma ne sarei capace ? Perché?. Perché insieme con la voglia di movimento, di novità, di avventura, ho anche un profondo bisogno di stabilità e di quiete. Certo le mie vacanze appaiono patetiche di fronte al Camel Trophy, così come una trasferta di lavoro rispetto al viaggio premio in Nepal. Ma non sono le cose, le occasioni, i luoghi quelli che contano. E’ il rapporto che sappiamo stabilire con essi, creando magie e vivendo emozioni. Senza di che anche un paracadute di montagna diventa banale come una seggiovia”. (Luca Goldoni)
Traveler Artist
“I feel I have a certain predisposition for nomadism. I would like to live like the agile Mongols in a white yurt, dismantling the whole cabin every morning, moving here and there in the immense plain. Or rather like the Bedouins who take refuge from the rigors of the desert at night under enormous black goatskin tents. Sure I would, but would I be capable of it? Because? Because together with the desire of movement, novelty, adventure, I also have a deep need for stability and peace. Of course, my holidays appear pathetic in front of the Camel Trophy, as the business trip compared to the award trip to Nepal. But are not the things, the occasions, the places that matter. It’s the relationship that we are able to establish with them, creating magic and experiencing emotions. Without this, even a mountain parachute becomes as trivial as a chairlift ”.
Perchè Artista Viaggiatore
Molti sono i pittori famosi che si possono fregiare della definizione di Artista Viaggiatore. Da Gauguin a Klee, da Matisse a Kokoscka, da Ontani a Caffi, fino a quelli contemporanei Mondini, Betti e Schifano. Tutti questi artisti hanno saputo trarre dall’esperienza del vivere o visitare luoghi sconosciuti ed esotici, un’occasione per una riflessione intima, scoprendo la ricchezza contenuta in culture diverse da quella di origine e restituendo in termini espressivi nuove figurazioni. Molto più semplicemente, la mia esperienza di viaggio è dovuta in gran parte alla mia passata attività professionale che mi ha portato spesso a lavorare all’estero. Anche se questo non ha consentito di dare continuità al mio amore per la pittura, ho cercato di riprodurre su tela alcune delle migliaia di immagini che ho raccolto con la fotografia. Questo mio viaggio parte dunque da La Morra (Cuneo), dove sono nato, e tocca i paesi e le nazioni che hanno lasciato in me i ricordi, le esperienze e le emozioni più profonde.
Why the Traveler Artist
There are many famous painters who can boast of the definition of traveler artist. From Gauguin, Klee, Matisse, Kokoscka, Ontani, to contemporary Mondini, Betti and Schifano. All these artists were able to draw from the experience of live or visit unknown exotic places, intimate occasion for reflection, discovering the richness contained in cultures other than their home and giving new figures in expressive terms .
Much more modestly, my travel experience is due to my past professional activity that often took me to work abroad. This did not allow me to give continuity to my love for painting until 1998, when I started to dedicate some of my free time to the Oil and Acrylic Painting with prevailing tendency to landscapes and still lives. My travels around the world have enriched me both from a professional and as a person. My goal today, as an artist, is to create a long " story" based on my deep roots, from my native land, the “Langhe” in Piedmont, for the sake of achieving the dreams on canvas of the " vagabond traveler" of memories.
